HSRC Seminar Series

Feminist and Postcolonial Science and Technology Studies: Convergences and Conflicts

Policy Analysis and Capacity Enhancement
Date : 22 February 2010
Time : 11:15 - 13:30

You are cordially invited to the seminar series lecture, presented by Professor Sandra Harding, University of California, Los Angeles.

These two fields should be allies, since so many of the world's women live in ex-colonised and/or neocolonised societies, and at least half of the world's citizens living in such societies are women. Yet these two fields of research find it challenging to integrate each other's concerns. One important reason for this challenge is that they all too often focus on different kinds of social relations, different kinds of sciences, and imagine different kinds of agents of progressive social transformation. Fortunately, we can identify valuable clues for overcoming such conflicts.

To reserve a seat, kindly RSVP by 19 February
