Project summary
This study aims to provide insight into the lives and experiences of young women who enter into the sciences at universities. Recipients of the Carnegie South African Scholarship at the Universities of Pretoria, Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal will participate in focus groups discussions, life history interviews and complete questionnaires to elucidate the relationships between gender and social constructions of masculinity and femininity in relation to institutional experience.
