Project summary

This project intends to investigate the nature and extent of HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination in the Anglican Church of South Africa (ACSA). It comprises the following four components:

  • faith-based organizations;
  • a conceptual framework of HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination in the Church broadly - with reference to faith-based organizations generally;
  • a conceptual review of HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination in the six southern African countries in which the ACSA is present; and
  • quantitative research on HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination within ACSA through a self-administered questionnaire to be sent to all dioceses and parishes.
