Dr Linda Chisholm is currently seconded from her position as Director in ESD to the Ministry of Education where she is a special advisor to the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga. She holds an MA from the University of London, and a PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.

Her research has focused on education and development, the historical, contemporary and comparative aspects of education policy and curriculum in South Africa and the region.

Dr Chisholm's publication record includes authoring and co-authoring several books and monographs, over 50 journal articles and chapters in books. Her recent publications are: South-South Cooperation in Education and Development (co-edited by Gita Steiner-Khamsi, Teachers' College Press, NY, 2009), Methodologies for Mapping a Southern African Girldhood in the Age of HIV-AIDS (co-edited by Relebohile Moletsane, Claudia Mitchell, and Anne Smith, Sense Publishers, Rotterdam, 2008), Investment Choices for South African Education (co-edited by Bloch, Fleisch and Mabizela, Wits Press, Johannesburg 2008), Changing Class: Education and Social Change in post-Apartheid South Africa (2004) and Gender Equity in South African Education 1994-2004: Perspectives from Government, Research and Civil Society (2005).
